What are businesses doing in response to projected climate change?
The business response to climate change was discussed by representatives from three industry sectors in this session. We also heard about Greenhouse Challenge Plus and how it enables Australian companies to form working partnerships with the Australian Government to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Fuelling our society
This session examined three energy alternatives for the future – renewables, fossil fuels and nuclear energy. Our panellists shared their views on the role that these energy sources have in fuelling our society in a changing climate.

New technologies to meet the climate change challenge
Necessity is the mother of invention, and our changing climate has prompted the development of new technologies to take us into the future. In this session the place of hot fractured rock geothermal energy, a hydrogen economy, wave energy and desalination in our changing climate will be explored.

Perspectives in communicating climate change
In this session a science communication practitioner, an academic, a journalist and a scientist will discuss what they see as the key issues in communicating climate change, with references to the similarities and differences encountered in the UK, USA and Australia.

What does green mean? How green initiatives are tackling climate change
Consumers are now being offered a range of ‘climate friendly’ initiatives that they can sign up to and play their part in tackling climate change. But how do these initiatives work? Are we really making a difference by participating? In this session we found out more about three of these initiatives – Greenfleet, Green Power and the Greenstar program.
